Hillary Care 2.0

Today Hillary Clinton presented her vision of health care for the future. Although its lacking from her original push for a revamp of health care which took place in 1993, it still shows some promise. But, what I love most about this CNN article isn't Hillary's plan for the future, its Rudy Giulianis back ass view of it.

"Clinton also took hits from GOP presidential hopefuls. "If you liked Michael Moore's 'Sicko,' you're going to love HillaryCare 2.0," said a statement from the campaign of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani. "Senator Clinton's latest health scheme includes more government mandates, expensive federal subsidies and more big bureaucracy -- in short, a prescription for an increase in wait times, a decrease in patient care and tax hikes to pay for it all."

First off, her plan is sound. There is no scheme involved. By the way, where is your health care reform plan Rudy? Oh, thats right, you dont have one. Secondly, Rudy isn't very fond of the government being involved. In this quote he is bashing the very institution he is trying to lead. Doesn’t he realize that the government would be the one carrying out and regulating the plan? It sounds as though he has no faith in government. He thinks its incompetent. Im going to have to say I think the opposite is true in this case. Hillary's plan allows both families and individuals "satisfied with their current coverage" the option to keep it and the only reason waiting times would increase with this plan is the simple fact that since all would have insurance, all would be able to visit the doctor, increasing the over all amount of patients in and out of a doctors office on a daily basis. What I can't comprehend is why patient care would decrease. Would doctors stop caring for patients if health care was available to all people? Certainly not. I cant think of any reason why it would decrease. I guess I'd have to check with Rudy on that one.

The one thing Im still trying to figure out here is why employers are depended on so heavily to provide medical coverage, or funding for it. Why are some Americans so against government funded health care? It exists already in the form of Medicare and could easily be expanded to benefit all Americans.

Im glad Hillary finally has a plan out. I still believe Obama's is better, but, progress could easily be made on both.
