Apple 2007

I don't have anyone to talk to about this so here it goes.

The Macworld 2007 Keynote Address was more than impressive this year. Lets start off with the newly dubbed Apple T.V. As Steve Jobs was talking about it I realized that it really is a revolutionary idea. Consider Tivo. Its a great idea being able to watch TV you missed without commercials and all of this for a yearly fee. Now, think about Apple T.V. It gives you the ability to watch episodes you have purchased on the iTunes store on your home television set. Not only is it commercial free its yours forever. None of this watching it once on Tivo and deleting it to make room for other shows. Its now become a permanent part of your multi-media collection. Gone are the days of buying box set DVDs or DVDs at all for that matter. Purchase it once, store it forever, own it forever and watch it whenever. How much are box sets these days? Take The Office Season 2 as an example. Buy the box set and its $37.98. Or, you could just buy each episode on the iTunes store for $1.99 or say, 434.99 for all of the episodes. Its cheaper than buying the DVDs and you never have to worry about your DVD player becoming old and out of date because now it just simply data. No Blueray or HDDVD worries, you just need a TV. Brilliant.

Of course the Apple TV was impressive and I didn't really touch on all of the features because you don't want to hear about that. You want to know what I think of the iPhone. The sexiest multi-function device ever created. Its not only a phone it's a widescreen iPod plus it connects to the internet and uses OS X as an operating system. No buttons, all touch screen. I can't even get over how advanced it is. The tablet PCs on the market don't have the touch screen ability the iPhone does and it's a PHONE for fucks sake. I cant even imagine being on the phone with someone and having my music fade away as someone calls me. They need something I have, say, a document or a picture, I say, sure, I can get that to you right away, and while Im on the phone with them I locate the file on my phone, email it to them, and they have it instantly. The shit Steve Jobs was demonstrating on the phone blew my mind. It's the most impressive piece of technology I've ever seen. It does everything I can think of. It plays movies and music, displays photographs, connects to the internet, takes pictures and makes phone calls. I don't know how other phone companies are going to be able to compete. I really don't. I could go on forever but I wont. Lets just say that before I started working at Bluerock I didn't really have any apple exposure. Now I use an iMac everyday and I thought I had started to realize what the company was all about. Today just showed me how much one company can accomplish when they are backed by good ideas.
