And I thought America was a mess

The Middle East confuses the shit out of me. I have a lot of time on my hands at work and I use it by reading the news. Trying to read anything about Israel or Lebanon and what is going on there requires years of back history and understanding that requires back history in itself. How can some countries recognize a party like Hezbollah as a political party when others label it a terrorist group?

I also get the feeling that a lot of Americans don't give a shit about the situation. Whether or not they know or care about the situation, many of them wouldn't understand it. These people in Lebanon are moving into the country with their families so that when Israel drops more bombs they have a greater chance of being safe. How can you live like that? It's unconceivable to me to up and move, leave my job and thus my income, my home and investments as well as my friends. These people are used to it. They have had to do it before. It doesn't seem like a life to me. Americans would find that completely unacceptable.

If Americas biggest airport was bombed so that air traffic was forced to be grounded the repercussions would be enormous. Beirut Airport in Lebanon, the ONLY commercial airport in the country, has had its three runways bombed grounding all in bound and out bound travel. I can only imagine the economic problems this will cause not to mention how pissed off I would be if Israel bombed my only airport. I just feel like bombing that airport was a horrendous move. I know that Israel is trying to locate its kidnapped troops and get them home but making it so they can't be flown out of the country effects a few more people then the organization holding them captive.

I'm no expert but why does it always seem like the Middle East is out of control?
