Hollar from Spo-diggity. I'm back from New York with many a picture and some stories too.
Thursday, after Gillian finished her classes, we high tailed it over to the Wicked Ticket Lottery to see if we was feelin lucky. Long story short-we weren't. We ended up walking all over the place so that I could see the sights of New York City (Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Trump Towers) and then back to her dorm room. We decided to hit up a theater to see Million Dollar Baby and since I HATE Regal we found a nice little AMC to go to and had a lovely time of it. You should know from about Thursday on Gillian was deathly sick with the black lung.
Friday we slept in and then hit the City. I had numerous things to turn in at three different offices so we got all my NYU applications taken care of first and were then on our way to lunch, some Starbucks and the Wicked lotto again. AGAIN we didn't win us any tickets. I was starting to think NY hated me. We didn't have any plans for the night so we hit up H&M where I found the greatest pants known to man, but, of course they didn't have them in my size. In fact they only had one pair left and it was on display. Great deal of good that did me. At Urban Outfitters I took part in a little cute shirt fun and we then headed back to the room with again no plans. No plans soon became plans to stand in line all night for SNL tickets since Paris Hilton was hosting and Keane was the musical guest. We grabbed all our stuff, got some Japanese take out, and then hiked all the way back to NBC. We arrived very excited only to find out that SNL had be pre-recorded because of the Easter weekend and that we were shit out of luck. Honestly. I wanted to cry. We dragged ourselves back to Gillian's room with nothing to do but when I discovered Stargate Atlantis was on I was set. After that we watched a little Mean Girls and hit the hay. Stargate is great.
Saturday we tried for Wicked tickets for the last time but I don't have to tell you how that turned out. We hit up TKTS (a place to get discounted Broadway tickets in Times Square) and picked up what we thought would be tickets to a good show: Little Women. After standing in line for an hour we did some more shopping (H&M and Lush) then hit up Central Park for a stroll and some pictures. After that we made our way into the Met to see some quality art. Outside of the Met I had a wonderful hotdog as suggested by Steph. After we stayed at the Met as long as we could (Little Women was at 8:00) we hopped in a taxi cab and went to the show. In all honesty, it was the worst show ever. I really wanted to see a show in NY as it is famous for its Broadway but I could have gone with out this one. Gillian agreed. To make up for the horrible show we treated ourselves to some late night food in Little Italy. Best Ravioli I ever had. This brings up what I really love about NY. You can waltz into Little Italy at 11:30 pm and things are still open. People are always about. There is always something going on, something to do. Other then London and Edinburgh and a little of Seattle, I've never been in a place like that. And I love it. Anyways, after the delicious dinner we headed back to Gillian's dorm one more time and hit the hay.
Sunday my plane took off for home at 2:50 and after a few delays and a little running to catch my plane in Salt Lake City I made it home. Even though Gillian is convinced I wont come back again I don't think I could pass up the chance too. I want to stay longer and see more things. I feel like if I had the chance too I could get to know the city much better. It's the kind of place you can build up a routine around. It's somewhere that's so huge and original that you can always be discovering new places to go and new things to do.
Below are many pictures from my trip. Check them out and don't forget to click to enlarge.
